It is actually a trade name for 440C, which is often called Austrian cobalt steell in the German version and is very common in knife making in South Africa. It contains 1.5% extra cobalt. It is manufactured by Bohler Uddenholm (Germany). It holds the blade well and is excellent in corrosion resistance. Both facts and performance ( knife tests) are identical to 440C. The steel has good flexibility and a hardness of 58 to 59 HRC. This cobalt stainless steel has excellent cutting and grinding properties. It is used by Benchmade and Extrema ratio.
