The blades of these knives are individually hardened and tempered using a unique heat treatment process (differential hardening). The blade is hand-ground with a water-cooled stone to create a convex edge. Designed and manufactured by Bryan Baker. Swedish tool steel with high carbon content.

Bryan Baker, a master knifemaker, began making his SVORD knives practically out of necessity in 1983. The engineering company he worked for went out of business, so at the age of 18 he decided to turn his hobby into a practical business. Designing ever-improved styles as required, SVORD knives have grown in credibility and popularity with the New Zealand sporting audience.
A chance meeting with an elderly Czechoslovakian knife maker gave Bryan Baker's company a real head start, as this master was willing to pass on many of the secrets of blade making and knife production know-how. Particularly important was the unique curing and tempering process that made the knives special for their strength and durability. SVORD knives are 100% handmade according to the innovative designs of knifemaker Bryan Baker.
